Greetings District Deuces and everyone else. After a several year hiatus I decided to jump back into the breech to serve as your District 2 Rep., this became effective by appointment in Sept. 2001.
For those who don't know me I've been involved with R/C jets since 1979 and with JPO since its inception. My first jet was a BVM A-4 Skyhawk semi-kit, which was built and flown, in that same year. That old Scooter is still flyable with a refurbished airframe and updated engine and radio. It is no hangar queen with hundreds of flights logged in 19 U.S. states, 2 Canadian Provinces and at several AMA Nationals. Since that time I have built and flown a BVM Aggressor I, Maverick, DL Aero Cyclone, JMP Starfire II and have designed a ducted fan trainer jet. I'm currently turbinized with a Hot Spot and Mark Frankel Skyray under construction.
I normally attend 5-6 jet events annually and support the smaller regional rallies rather than the mega events. I've attended and flown at Superman and Florida Jets but prefer the Quinte Jet Rally and Heart of Ohio as my biggies.
As an AMA Contest Director I intend to host a couple of jet events during the season. My local club field is very suitable for jets with a 6000' x 150' paved runway and few overflight restrictions. Guys have called it "the Edwards AFB of R/C flying" and folks travel from afar to make their test flights at the field. My local club has about dozen jet pilots with various levels of experience and there are currently 3 individuals holding turbine waivers.
My goals are to serve the interests of jet modelers in District 2 and beyond. I'm striving to increase the membership in the District by demonstrating the utility of the organization. I also foresee a dramatic increase in turbine powered jets and will strive to share knowledge and expertise on this exciting form of model propulsion.
