My name is Fred Gambino known by many as “Doc”. I joined the AMA in 1975 and stayed active until 1999 when I moved from Arizona to Michigan. In my 34 years of modeling, I have held 19 club positions which includes President, Secretary/Treasure, Vice-President and Newsletter Editor. I’m a IMAC certified judge and for the past 10 years,( up until June of 2009) I have been the world wide Treasurer for IRCHA. I learned to fly Helicopters in AZ but lost interest several years ago. My real passion has always been in pattern flying and Jets. I flew with the AZ Flying Eagles Show Team for 9 years flying DVR’s and War Birds. In the 70’s and 80’s I flew in several Pattern contests but the best I placed was 2nd in 2 of the events. I actually enjoyed judging the events later on. Since I relinquished my position with IRCHA this year, I have spent all of my time flying Turbines. Last Summer, thanks to Larry Depas and Jon Stotz, I obtained my Turbine Waver flying a Boomerang Sprint. Since the fall, I have been building the Boomerang Elan which will be on display at the Toledo Show April 9-11, 2010. Since joining the JPO last year, I will be representing them in Toledo as well.
